KUALA LUMPUR: Election Commission chairman Tan Sri Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman’s admission that he knows the election date has piqued the curiosity of the deputy prime minister.
Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said he would also like to know when the general election would be held.
“I too, would like to ask him how he obtained the information.
“It could be anything. You would have to ask him yourselves,” he said when asked to comment on newspaper reports of Rashid indicating knowledge about the election date.
Pressed for further comments, Najib replied: “Let us not talk about this at the moment. Everywhere I go there is always talk of an election.”
Najib was speaking to reporters after launching the CIMB Foundation – a non-profit organisation that will carry out CIMB Group’s corporate social responsibility and philanthropic initiatives.
Rashid had said he could not tell the date but gave enough reminders for all to prepare for the polls.
CIMB Group has pledged RM100mil over three years to the foundation, which will focus on community, sports and education development.
