TELUK INTAN, Jan 24 (Bernama) — The Information Ministry will study whether allowing opposition leaders to campaign through RTM in the next general election will benefit the people, deputy minister Datuk Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said.
He said opposition leaders would not be allowed to appear on RTM to campaign if they cause problems for the people and further aggravate any issue.
“We fear that if they are only bent on voicing out their parties’ aspirations without any thought for the society it would destroy the perception of the people who have been positive in their support of the government all this while,” he told reporters at a dinner last night for retiring Hilir Perak district officer Azimuddin Mohd Rafie.
Ahmad Zahid said that previously RTM had given the opposition leaders the chance to participate in the “Debat Perdana” but they had turned it down “maybe because they were worried.”
“But when there’s a general election, they want to appear on RTM,” he said.
