Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan has dismissed the need for the opposition to act as check and balance as all projects undertaken were for the interests of the people, and not because there was an opposition in the state assembly.
Mohamad, who is also the state BN chairman, said the state government had set policies and guidelines for development and monitoring was effectively carried out by BN representatives.
Mohamad, who is also the state BN chairman, said the state government had set policies and guidelines for development and monitoring was effectively carried out by BN representatives.
“We always get public feedback before we embark on any project and we monitor these projects closely…therefore, what is the need for check and balance?
“We are not carrying out development projects just because we have an opposition in the state assembly. We have our development plans till 2020, investment targets and other set agenda for education and social needs. So there is no need for an opposition harping on minor issues and rhetoric,” he said after launching Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SRLK) Ladang Sungai Salak in Taman Seremban Jaya, here, today.
Mohamad urged the people not to be deceived by the opposition that they should be voted in to act as Government watchdog.
“Development projects in Seremban has cost us RM1 billion,” he said. “There are numerous projects, including the new Kuala Pilah road and new road from Kajang to Seremban,” he said.
On the DAP’s confidence to retain the Lobak state seat and wrest other Chinese-majoritys seats in the state, Mohamad said the rhetoric did not bother the BN.
“DAP thinks they can get three seats, Pas get four and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) get five … you think we are so stupid that they (opposition) can win that many seats. It is okay, let them think what they want. I have reminded the BN machinery not to be over-confident,” he said.
In 2004, he said the DAP won the Lobak state seat as there was the issue of the market and Chinese cemetery relocation but both these plans had been shelved and instead RM7 million was spent to upgrade the market.
He criticised the DAP for only being good at making empty promises unfulfilled since 2004.
