KUALA LUMPUR: Postal voting for members of the armed forces began yesterday to enable the forces’ 111,591 registered voters to exercise their rights.
Armed Forces Chief Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Zainal was among the earliest to cast his vote at Wisma Pertahanan at Jalan Padang Tembak here.
The armed forces’ election coordinating officer for Setiawangsa, Lt Col Hamdan Yaccob, said a total of 24,091 spouses of armed forces personnel were also eligible to cast postal votes in this election.
The number of postal voters from the armed forces increased by 15 per cent from the last general election in 2004, he added. – Bernama
