PENANG, March 6 (Bernama) — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said Wednesday that the government would ensure Saturday’s general election is conducted credibly although the Election Commission (EC) had cancelled its plan to use indelible ink during the voting process.
“We also want the election to be credible so that our victory too is credible I want that more than anything else,” he said when speaking at a meet-the-people session here.
He also said that God willing, the BN would be returned to power on Saturday.
However, he said the opposition parties, who were certain to lose (in the election), would be able to cover their weaknesses by blaming the cancellation of the use of the indelible ink and claim they were cheated.
He said it was the same EC that has been carrying out general elections for so long now and knew what they had to do.
He added that the EC and police would ensure incident-free polling on Saturday.
