MALACCA: Barisan Nasional has hit out at the DAP here for alleging discrepancies in the number of postal voters for the Kota Melaka parliamentary seat.
Malacca Barisan chairman Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam said the Opposition was resorting to lies to confuse the electorate here by making such allegations at ceramahs.
“I asked the Opposition to prove their claims. We in Barisan are the ones telling the truth and the DAP is lying,” he told over 1,000 residents of Taman Kasturi, who had gathered for a dinner here yesterday.
DAP Kota Melaka candidate Sim Tong Him was taken to task by Mohd Ali after he alleged that postal votes were being moved into the Kota Melaka parliamentary seat.
MCA candidate for Kesidang, Datuk Koh Nai Kwang, described the allegation as absurd and a distortion of the truth aimed at confusing voters here.
When contacted, Malacca Election Commission director Dzulkifli Abd Rahman said that candidates should not make any allegations and clarify the matter with his office first.
