MELAKA, March 6 (Bernama) — The Election Commission (EC) has dismissed an allegation that it had transferred postal voters to different constituencies.Melaka Election Director Dzulkifli Ab Rahman said today such an allegation would only confuse the people and their confidence in the EC.
He said the names of those eligible for the postal voting had been given to the agents of contesting political parties and the ballot papers were issued based on the applications received from the police and military election coordinators.
“We will issue the ballot papers against the names of the voters.
Their names will be crossed out once they have cast their votes and they will not be given any more ballot papers,” he said.
Dzulkifli said the number of postal voters in Melaka had risen to 12,680 in this general election compared to 11,105 in the 2004 elections.
