PM: Yip not resigning as Titi Tinggi assemblyman

HONG KONG: Perlis state executive council member Yip Sun Onn still supports the Barisan Nasional and will not be resigning as the Titi Tinggi assemblyman, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
He said he had received confirmation on the matter from Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Perlis Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohd Isa Sabu.
Najib was speaking to reporters here before leaving for home after attending the Credit Suisse Asian Investment Conference.
Yip dropped a bombshell on Tuesday by submitting his resignation as assemblyman. It was believed that his resignation was triggered by him being dropped as exco member as part of a rotation arrangement.
Yip, 52, the only MCA representative in the line-up, was replaced by MCA’s Indera Kayangan assemblyman Dr Por Choo Chor.
Mohd Isa had said that he was trying to convince Yip not to resign. As of Tuesday night, Yip had not retracted his letter but caused considerable confusion when he declared that he was “still a Barisan assemblyman.”
