KUALA LUMPUR, 14 APRIL, 2010: The Selangor police are ready to face the by-election for the Hulu Selangor Parliamentary seat on April 25, said Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein.
He said more than 1,000 police personnel had been identified to ensure the smooth running of the nomination process on Saturday.
“I cannot state the total number of police personnel to be deployed in Hulu Selangor now, but what is certain is that the number is sufficient to ensure that the polling process runs smoothly,” he said.
He said this at a press conference after hearing a briefing from Selangor Police Chief Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar and Hulu Selangor OCPD Supt Norel Azmi Yahya Affandi on the police preparations to face the by-election at the Parliament building, here today.
Hishammuddin said the Home Ministry would also provide mobile police stations at eight locations identified as ‘hot spots’ during the by-election.
