Samy Vellu Keeps Mum on Hulu Selangor Candidate

Malaysian Digest
KUALA LUMPUR, 15 APRIL, 2010: MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu has opted to keep silent as to who will be MIC’s candidate for the upcoming Hulu Selangor by-election.
When approached by reporters after he chaired an emergency meeting of the party’s all-powerful Central Working Committee here, he did not want to divulge who the candidate would be and was only willing to say to wait for the announcement by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today.
He also cautioned members that disciplinary action would be taken if they failed to toe the party line.
Muhyiddin is scheduled to announce the Barisan Nasional’s candidate for the by-election in Bukit Sentosa, Hulu Selangor at 4pm tomorrow.
The Hulu Selangor parliamentary by-election is called following the death of its incumbent, Datuk Dr Zainal Abidin Ahmad of PKR, from brain cancer last March 25. Nomination is on Saturday and polling is on April 25.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had announced that the candidate for the by-election would be from the MIC.
