SIBU, 8 MAY, 2010: The Sibu Civic Centre here became the focus of attention here since 6am today as it was the nomination centre for the Sibuparliamentary by-election.
Police informed Bernama that security around the Civic Centre had been tightened as early as 5am where access to several roads leading to it had been restricted.
It was also expected that around 10,000 people are expected to converge in the area.
Food and drinks outlets at the commercial area adjacent to the Civic Centre were seen to be enjoying brisk business with the sudden surge people.
The Election Commission had set one hour starting 9am for candidates to file in their nomination papers.
