BERSIH 2.0 welcomes Ahmad Awang Ali as new Sarawak Vice-chair

Ahmad Awang AliBERSIH 2.0 is pleased to announce the final addition to the Steering Committee – Ahmad b. Awang Ali – to assume the new post of Sarawak Vice-chairperson.
Ahmad has more than 15 years experience as a trainer on human rights issues in Sarawak. He is the Principal Trainer for Pusat Latihan Orang Asal Sarawak (PANGGAU) and also a trainer for the Society for Indigenous People’s Sarawak (SCRIPS), which submitted his nomination. He has spoken at numerous international fora on farming, such as Via Campesina.
Candidates for the other BERSIH-endorsing NGOs in Sarawak – Borneo Resources Institute (BRIMAS) and Solidariti Anak Muda – eventually pulled out their nominations, paving the way for Ahmad to be the Vice-chairperson for Sarawak. As a member of the BERSIH 2.0 Steering Committee, he has already started organising for our Delineation Action & Research Team (DART) campaign and the first workshop will be held in Kuching on 28 April 2014.
