BERSIH 2.0 wishes to clarify its stance on the appointment of the new Election Commission chair.

In the media statement dated 21 June 2018, BERSIH 2.0 outlined criteria for candidates for the position. BERSIH 2.0 maintains that the three former BERSIH 2.0 Chairs are of impeccable integrity and have the necessary knowledge and experience on electoral matters. However, we recognise all three former Chairs have other important responsibilities and roles to play. Therefore, Bersih 2.0 wishes to clarify we have not put forward their names for consideration.

BERSIH 2.0 believes there is no shortage of alternative impartial, experienced and reform-minded candidates that are fully capable of taking charge of the EC.
