POSITION: ADMINISTRATION OFFICER (full-time)

The Coalition for Clean and Fair Election (BERSIH 2.0) is seeking an Administration Officer to assist in the daily operational administration and all visitors to the company by handling office tasks, providing polite and professional assistance via phone, mail, and e-mail, making reservations or travel arrangements, and generally being a helpful and positive presence in the workplace.

To be successful as an Administrative Officer, candidates should have excellent communication skills and an upbeat attitude and be professional, polite, and attentive while also being accurate. They should always be prepared and responsive, willing to meet each challenge directly. Administrative Assistants must be comfortable with computers, general office tasks, and excel at both verbal and written communication. Most importantly, Administrative Officer should have a genuine desire to meet the needs of others. 

Work Scope

The Administration Officer is expected to:

  1. Handling office tasks, such as filing, generating reports and presentations, setting up for meetings, and reordering supplies.
  2. Providing real-time scheduling support by booking appointments and preventing conflicts.
  3. Making travel arrangements, such as booking flights, cars, and making hotel and restaurant reservations.
  4. Screening phone calls and routing callers to the appropriate party.
  5. Using computers to generate reports and transcribe minutes from meetings
  6. Greet and assist visitors.
  7. Maintain polite and professional communication via phone, e-mail, and mail.
  8. Manage and filing of accounting supporting documents such as invoices, payment vouchers, receipts, bank statements
  9. Manage and upkeep office equipment
  10. Anticipate the needs of others in order to ensure their seamless and positive experience.

Requirements

The successful applicant will be joining a motivated, dedicated team of staff and executive committee with a diverse range of specialties and experiences. Our ideal candidate will:

  1. Minimum a diploma degree or above. 
  2. Prior administrative experience.
  3. Excellent computer skills, especially with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  4. Attention to detail.
  5. Good command of both Bahasa Malaysia and English.

 

POSITION: MEDIA OFFICER (full-time)

The Coalition for Clean and Fair Election (BERSIH 2.0) is seeking a Media Officer who is passionate about clean, free and fair election and defending democracy. Applicants need to be well versed in communication skills, understand social media and able to work in a team. 

Work Scope

The Media Officer is expected to:

  1. Develop communication strategy and work plan and coordinate its implementation to advance BEESIH 2.0’s vision and mission.
  2. Prepare press statements and other media intervention materials.
  3. Create media exposure for the organization in television, radio, newspapers, magazines etc.
  4. Monitor and ensure documentation of media intervention made by BERSIH 2.0 to facilitate assessment and strategising.
  5. Document events organised by BERSIH 2.0 in photographs or videos.
  6. Organize press conferences, including press advisory, press room arrangement, live streaming etc.
  7. Design online posters of events from time to time.
  8. Coordinate production of publication and other advocacy tools and resources such as video, online apps etc.
  9. Expand outreach through social media such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter and Instagram.
  10. Maintain and update website of BERSIH 2.0.
  11. Manage archives of photographs and videos.
  12. Provide media strategy support to all program staff

Requirements

  1. Be a Malaysian citizen.
  2. Be highly motivated and committed to the vision, mission and value statement of BERSIH 2.0.
  3. Support the advancement of free and fair elections and vibrant and genuine democracy in Malaysia.
  4. Be strategic and analytical, with the ability to communicate ideas effectively.
  5. Have strong leadership, inter-personal skills and be able to work independently or as part of a team.
  6. Have strong spoken and written communication skills in Bahasa Malaysia and English. Knowledge of other languages is an advantage.
  7. Possess experience in developing and implementing effective communication strategies and work plan in relation to maintstream media (print, television, radio) as well as in online media (website and social media).
  8. Demonstrate strong ICT skills and technical knowledge with social media platforms.
  9. Possess at least three (3) years of effective experience working in the area of strategic communication in issues related to free and fair elections, institutional reform and democracy. Applicants with less years of work experience may be considered dependent on demonstrated skills and past accomplishments.
