In the run-up to the Nomination Day for the upcoming Sabah State Election on 12 September 2020, Bersih Sabah calls upon all political parties intending to vie for state seats to field candidates that are free from all court charges, including corruption charges, and to make public their asset declaration and verified by Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
Bersih Sabah would also like to remind both the caretaker government of Sabah and the federal government not to abuse of public resources in campaigning for votes as this would be tantamount to using tax-payers’ monies for the benefit of their own parties. There should be a level playing field for all contesting parties and candidates. We reiterate our call for a clean, free and fair election, and for compliance to all the laws under the Election Offences Act 1954.
As was in the Chini and Slim by-elections, the Ministry of Health’s SOP for election will be implemented by the Election Commission, all voters and political parties are reminded to abide by the SOP.
Eligible voters are encouraged to go out in full force to vote to ensure that the state election will be clean, free and fair with a credible outcome.
To ensure smooth monitoring of the election, Bersih Sabah would like to invite citizens aged 21 years and above to volunteer as Election Observers at [email protected] or WhatsApp to 014-5724007.
