The Bersih 2.0 International Bureau (B2IB) strongly condemns the killing of 18 Myanmar nationals who staged a street protest against the military coup in Myanmar on February 28 and the killing of 38 other Myanmar citizens on 4th March 2021, including a young 19-year-old activist, Ma Kyal Sin, who was shot in the head yesterday during a protest.
B2IB urges that an investigation be conducted to identify those who were involved in the killing of ordinary people and hold them accountable. The killing of ordinary people who took to the street to protest is inhumane and totally unacceptable.
B2IB calls on the entire world community who loves peace and democracy to urge the Tatmadaw to restore civilian rule in Myanmar and respect for freedom of speech and to not harm the people who protest the military coup in Myanmar.
B2IB also once again called on the international community and especially ASEAN countries to condemn Tatmadaw’s brutal and inhumane actions.
