The Asian Network for Free Elections (ANFREL) is pleased to welcome the Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections (BERSIH 2.0) from Malaysia and the Legal Network for Truthful Elections (LENTE) from the Philippines as new members of the ANFREL family.
The ANFREL Executive Council during a special meeting on 5 October 2021 accepted the membership applications of BERSIH 2.0 and LENTE for their contributions to advancing electoral democracy in line with the mission and vision of the network.
BERSIH 2.0 is a coalition of non-governmental organizations that focuses on electoral reforms and pushes for better procedural democracy. Formed in 2006, the organization has been relaunched as BERSIH 2.0 as a coalition of like-minded civil society organizations which crusades for clean and fair elections in Malaysia.
LENTE is a non-partisan, nationwide network of lawyers, law students, paralegals and grassroots volunteers engaged to do election work. Formed in 2007, LENTE is committed to ensuring truthful elections and meaningful electoral participation for the good of the Filipino people.
With the inclusion of BERSIH 2.0 and LENTE as new members, ANFREL now counts 29 member organizations from 18 different countries in Asia.
